Project Description
This design brief was to fit out a newly created Jack and Jill bathroom for a teenager. I created a colourful and fun bathroom design that looks great now and will continue to be appreciated as she grows up.
I chose a palette of blush pink and white to create a feminine feeling of soft glamour and added contrasting navy blue to give a punchy, modern touch. We randomly laid the hexagon tiles and left a live edge for an on-trend look. To compliment the wall tiles I used a pale oak wood-effect porcelain tile on the floor, set in a herringbone pattern.
There was plenty of space in this room for a generous shower enclosure with floor to ceiling tiles and slate effect shower tray. Sitting on the opposite wall, tucked under a new staircase, is the modern, curved back-to-wall bath with feature hexagon tiling.
A floor to ceiling soil pipe had to sit behind the toilet, so instead of boxing in just that area, I decided to build out the whole wall. This provided the opportunity to use the wall cavity for a lit cubby in the shower, the toilet cistern, a recessed smart TV above the toilet and an illuminated bathroom cabinet recessed above the sink. The bathroom fitter was able to frame all this as part of the installation to achieve a great finish to the room.
The two-drawer vanity has plenty of storage for a teenage girl. I kept this simple in white to match the toilet and bath opposite. The vanity has a marble tiled top, which we matched to the tile at the back of the shower cubby. The wall-mounted taps flow into a pink concrete sink as the centrepiece. A woven paper cord bench placed under the window adds a further layer of texture and completes the design.
