Project Description

The new owners of this bungalow wanted to turn the drab outdated bathroom into a Bali inspired bathroom - and this is how I did it!

Quaint tied back curtains and a grey bathroom suite wasn't working for this busy household of four adults. Needing more storage and a bigger showering space, they longed for a modern bathroom that would transport them somewhere tropical. Their wish was granted with a Bali inspired bathroom complete with dark walnut floor and cabinets and a beautiful jade green feature tile.

Bali inspired bathroom vanity and toilet

The key to unlocking the floor plan in this bathroom was moving the toilet. Helpfully suggested by Kirt of Surefit Installations, the bungalow had the necessary depth under the floor to re-route the waste pipe. This meant we could create a large showering zone on one side of the room, where we fitted a brand new Aqualisa shower. On the opposite wall we combined the toilet and basin in an all-in-one unit with a beautiful jade green tile above.

Storage

Cupboards in the lower unit provide storage, along with two show-stopping wall units. The doors for these were made by Kitchen Door Outlet. They are currently one of the only suppliers of dark walnut doors. (Watch this space - they will be everywhere in a year or three!). Lastly a lit mirror fills the space above the sink, and being flush to the wall it provides the necessary head space for using the basin.

Continuing the mission for creating storage, a built out section of wall next to the shower was framed. Providing symmetry in the room it mirrors a built out section on the opposite wall. Here we installed two push-open cupboards, the shower mechanism and a niche in the shower area. Adding a light and the feature tile at the back of the niche elevates the showering experience.

Bali inspired bathroom niche

The combination of creamy stone-effect porcelain wall tiles, walnut floor and cupboards, jade green feature tile and smart white suite creates a dreamy Bali inspired bathroom in this home. The family are loving using their new space, and working out which part of their new home to transform next!
