Bathroom Trend 2024: Organic shapes, colours and textures

The key bathroom trend for 2024 is reflecting the natural world. You can do this by incorporating organic shapes, natural colours or textures in your tiles, wall colour, fixtures and finishing touches.

Reflecting nature brings calm, harmony and timeless appeal to bathroom design. Undoubtedly it shows our desire to connect with the natural world and feel grounded in our bathing spaces.

Bathroom Trend 2024: Organic Shapes

The sharp lines of previous years are giving way to fluid, organic shapes in the bathroom. Increasingly bath tubs whether stand-alone or back-to-wall are scoop-shaped, and counter top basins give the opportunity to show off a lot of curve appeal. Frequently, top end designers have been using arches in their rooms. Matki have responded to this with their new EauZone arched shower panel/door. This will give many people the option to add a curve into their bathroom design. If this can shape can be replicated with arched mirrors above the sink and even shelving or a shower niche, this creates a pleasing synergy across the room.

Bathroom Trend Colours for 2024

Grey is definitely a thing of the past, and warm neutrals and nature-inspired colours have taken its place. Normally there are significant areas of tiling in a bathroom, so this can be the best way to reflect colour in your space.

Hand-made artisan tiles (Zellige tiles) give the most organic effect on a wall, and the trend is to lay them vertically. Colour variations in the tiles create a rippling effect as the light bounces off them and evoke locations such as a woodland, waterfall or desert. This subtle interplay of shades is as far from clinical as you can get. Ceramica Rondine have a wonderful new range to use.

Adding Texture to a Bathroom in 2024

Unsurprisingly wood and marble top the list of natural textures to use in bathrooms. Wood is versatile and adds immediate visual interest and warmth. The floor is an obvious place to use wood, either as an LVT (luxury vinyl tile) or a porcelain tile. Alternatively, laid on the wall a wood-effect tile looks spa-like, and don’t forget fixtures such as the vanity often come in wood veneer options. You could even go chalet-chic style and board the ceiling to create a Scandi-inspired bathroom retreat.

Marble not only brings texture, but luxury too. White marble with blue, green or gold veining is gaining in popularity and can be bought in cost-effective printed porcelain tiles. Dark and colourful marbles look stunning as a feature area, even more so when the colours can be picked up throughout the rest of the space.

Stone derivations such as terrazzo bring multi-coloured interest to tiles, and if you can’t stretch to a true terrazzo then there are plenty of printed options to choose from.

Bathroom Trend 2024: Accessories

If you’re not planning to fully renovate your bathroom in 2024, you can still incorporate this trend into your room through accessories. Organic shapes can be added through mirrors, vases or bowls. Colour can be added to the painted areas of walls. Wooden frames, mirrors and accessories made of natural matetrials will inject a sense of wellness in your bathroom.
