Project Description

This project started with a design brief to find a rock glass shower screen and use gloss marble tiles to create a luxurious and glamorous new bathroom. Fully utilising my independent approach of combining elements from multiple sources, I delivered a luxury marble bathroom my client is thrilled with.

The shower area

The whole design hinged on a rock glass effect shower screen, which eventually we discovered two options for. Drench Showers have a range of textured glass, including a 'stone' glass option, and a local supplier Float Glass Design also offered this effect. We decided to go with the local supplier, who could also create the desired 'live edge' look. The new spotlights play off the glass beautifully and give some privacy while showering. The shower side of the glass is smooth for easy cleaning too.

Originally the whole room was going to be clad in white gloss tiles, however I recommended a coloured feature tile on the shower wall to add some contrast. We chose the Ca Pietra Azzurro tile and Kirt of Surefit Installations did a very nice job of taking this tile into the lit shower niche and onto the small seat he created. The Mimica white gloss marble-effect tiles feature on the walls and floors throughout the rest of the room.

The vanity area

My client needed a lot of storage, so I decided the best route would be a double vanity. I chose this Harvey George Olivia wall hung vanity that I sized to fit the space exactly. It is customised in Little Greene French Grey #113 to tie in with the marble veining. There wasn't quite enough room for two basins, so I specified four full drawers with a white marble veined countertop across both units.

I sat a large, scooped, soft porcelain sink on the right hand side with wall mounted Coalbrook taps above. A bevelled edge mirror stretches across the wall giving a feeling of expanded space. And a blue pendant light was added for when ambient lighting is preferred.

Additional Features

Space is at a premium in this luxury marble bathroom so the toilet cistern was placed into the wall cavity to achieve a streamlined look with a wall hung toilet. Underfloor heating is installed and a tall towel rail in brushed nickel sits at the end of the shower area for easy access. The other accessories are in brushed nickel, and a new door for the linen cupboard in white gloss works nicely.

This petite bathroom has undergone a full transformation and is now a glamorous and luxurious space for the owners.
