Why do I need a room design service?
A room design service will be of great benefit to you if:
- – You want to refresh a room in your home and make it feel more harmonious and cohesive
- – You are carrying out a renovation or extension and you don’t have a plan for how the space will look beyond the building plans
- – A room in your home will be used for a different purpose in the near future
How does the room design service work?
The room design service includes an initial meeting in your home and then the development of a detailed design scheme which I will present to you on a mood board with a scale drawing of the room. The design scheme will go into detail on all the selections I have made and I will bring with me to this meeting samples of paint, wallpaper and fabric as appropriate.
A companion document will provide web links to components that I use in the design so you can look in depth at each element I propose.
There are two options for completing your scheme once it has been discussed and any revisions have been made. The first is that I order and supply the elements of the design scheme for you. This gives you the benefit of accessing furnishings via trade accounts that you would not be able to purchase yourself. The second option is to order the elements yourself, which works well if I have selected high street options for your scheme. Depending on what needs to be purchased a mix of the two options can also be effective.
I know that I’d like to change the design of a room, but I want to keep certain pieces of furniture or décor, can you work around this?
At the initial meeting you can show me any pieces of furniture, floor or wall coverings or anything that you know that you want included in the final design. I will use these elements as my starting point for the room design so that they work in the new scheme.
Whatever you want to keep and whatever you are happy to replace I can design around.
I want to make sure I can afford what you design, can I give you a budget to work to?
Yes of course. I have great skill at mixing more and less expensive pieces in my room designs to achieve a beautiful end result. My design fee will be provided to you on a quote at the start of the project, and the rest of your budget will be apportioned across the elements in the design scheme.
